Overview

Grok Media Saver is a Chrome browser extension that helps users download images and videos from grok.com. This policy describes what data the extension accesses, why, and how it is handled.

1. Data We Access

The extension accesses the following data, exclusively on grok.com pages:

Image & video URLs — The extension scans the active Grok page's DOM to discover media resource URLs (e.g., hosted on imagine-public.x.ai or assets.grok.com). These URLs are used only to trigger a download to your local device.
Video metadata — Duration, dimensions, and thumbnail frame data already present in the page's <video> elements, used to display previews inside the extension panel.
Local download references — When you use "Select from recent Grok downloads," the extension reads filenames and paths of files already saved on your device via Chrome's downloads API.
License key — If you activate a Pro license, your key is stored locally in chrome.storage.local only. It is never transmitted to any analytics or third-party service.

2. Data We Do Not Collect

All processing — page scanning, file downloading, video merging, and trimming — happens entirely within your local browser using Chrome's built-in APIs. No data leaves your device except to initiate direct downloads from Grok's own servers.

The extension does not:

Upload any media, URLs, or personal data to any server operated by the developer.
Track your browsing history or behavior beyond the active Grok page.
Use cookies, fingerprinting, or any form of analytics.
Share or sell any data to third parties.

3. Permissions Justification

4. Third-Party Services

When you choose to purchase a Pro license, you will be directed to LemonSqueezy (a third-party payment processor) to complete your purchase. The developer does not receive or store your payment card information. Please refer to LemonSqueezy's Privacy Policy for details.

5. Children's Privacy

This extension is not directed at children under the age of 13 and does not knowingly collect any personal data from minors.

6. Changes to This Policy
